About Us

The team behind Vantage Point Astro

Vantage Point Astro is an astrophotography collective dedicated to capturing the beauty of the night sky. Our team brings together diverse perspectives and expertise to share the wonders of the cosmos.

Our Team

Malcolm Loro

Malcolm fell in love with astronomy as a child, when his father ground a 6-inch mirror and built a Newtonian telescope and mount. Together they spent hours viewing—and photographing—the Moon and planets. Fifty years later, after earning a degree in Applied Science, raising a family, and a career in high tech, Malcolm returned to astrophotography to explore and share the wonders of deep space. When he's not under the stars, he's at the piano—or curling or cycling.

AstroBin Profile

Tony Jarrett

What began as an impulse buy during the pandemic has become a much more time-consuming pastime! Tony seeks out dark skies for visual observing and enjoys the challenge of astrophotography - whether from home in Ottawa or remotely with Vantage Point Astro. In his remaining free time, he can often be found outside, hiking or cross-country skiing.

AstroBin Profile

Richard Taylor

Richard Taylor has been an amateur astronomer since his parents gave him a Tasco telescope about 60 years ago. He started doing astrophotography with film cameras in the 1990s but happily switched to digital when affordable digital cameras became available. Since he retired from teaching high school Physics in 2018, he has spent more time on image processing both for astro and general photography. Richard also enjoys designing and building Lego models with his granddaughter.
